Ashley is the Director of Care at Villa Italia. She is a Graduate of the Registered Practical Nursing Program from Mohawk College and has experience in retirement care, palliative care, Primary Health Care and is also a Personal Support Worker in-class instructor. Ashley is a member and registered under the College of Nurses, and is CPR and FIRST AID certified.
Anita worked in the credit union system for 24 years helping seniors with their investments. As Marketing Manager at Villa Italia, Anita has helped seniors transition into a retirement residence for the past 13 years, and enjoys easing them into calling Villa Italia their new home. Of her job, Anita says, “Coming to The Villa everyday doesn’t seem like a job – the residents are an extension of my family."
Debra joined Villa Italia shortly after it first opened in 2003. Working across a variety of business sectors, Debra has over 30 years of office management and computer support experience, and her acquired knowledge and determination are key components to the smooth operation of our business office. Debra is responsible for all phases of accounting, along with IT systems support and development.
Mario Escobar is the Food Service Manager at Villa Italia. Mario graduated Culinary Management School in 2000. Before joining the Villa Italia team in 2004, Mario gained experience in preparing a broad range of cuisine types, from traditional family style to modern culinary meals bringing in his love for Italian cooking to Villa Italia. Mario has worked in both fine dining and casual dining restaurants as well as catering.
Prior to joining Villa Italia in 2017, Maurizio managed the maintenance of several commercial and residential properties in the Westdale area for over 11 years. He was involved in all aspects of property management from construction, health and safety, and leasing. Maurizio has headed his own commercial and residential construction and renovation business since 1994.
Zaida has been with Villa Italia for 10 years, with the first 8 years helping our residents as the nurse in our Wellness Department, and the past 2 years has held the position of Wellness Coordinator. Zaida holds a certificate in Practical Nursing from Mohawk College, is licensed through the College of Nurses of Ontario, has a Mental Health First Aid Certificate, Gentle Persuasive Approach Certificate and she is FIRST AID and CPR certified.
Franca Elia started at Villa Italia when the doors first opened in 2003 as a Dietary Aide. She then moved on to the evening receptionist where she excelled in running some evening programs for the residents. In 2009 Franca was promoted to Activities Co-ordinator, a role for which she recruits volunteers and operates our Bella Vita Day Program.
Laura has been the Executive Assistant at Villa Italia over 11 years. She is also our Human Resources and Health and Safety Manager. Laura attended Mohawk College and graduated in the Office Administration (Executive Assistant) Program and from the Occupational Health and Safety Program at Ryerson University. Laura is now working towards completing her Human Resources Certificate at Mohawk College.
